Headaches / Migraines

headache.jpgEveryone gets the occasional headache, but some headaches get so bad they won't go away. While drugs treat the symptoms, they often ignore the underlying cause of the problem.

The worst headaches can be slow to respond to the intended effect of the medications. The stronger medications can have negative and long-lasting effects to the rest of your body when used for extended periods. This is why many people finally decide to look to other, more natural (and safer) solutions for their problems, such as chiropractic.

Every patient is different and you are certainly no exception.  What we need to do is figure out what kind of headache you are having.  There are many different types of headaches but what we find is the most common are cervicogenic headaches, also referred to as tension headaches.  If you break up the word cervicogenic, it actually means a headache that is generated from your cervical spine or neck.

One third of Americans suffer from tension headaches. These headaches can be felt on both sides of the head as a dull, steady pain that often becomes intense at the end of the day. Unfortunately, traditional medicine has little to offer chronic headache sufferers. Pain medicine and muscle relaxants will ease the pain. Stress reduction, relaxation and exercise can improve wellness and perhaps prevent the occurrence of the headache.

Cervicogenic headaches are characterized by pain on one side of the head with associated neck pain on the same side. A patient with these headaches perceives pain in the head, but the actual source of the pain lies in the cervical spine.

We have helped so many patients with headaches here in the office.  It is sometimes the most exciting problem to treat because patients are amazed at the results that they get.  If  you are like most other people, you've probably been putting up with this for way too long.  You are going to have to do something about it some time, so why not now? It's insane to keep doing the things that you are doing that are not working.  Call our office at 218-745-6655 to get scheduled so we can turn things around!
